Use my API key or local model
The companion runs on your computer with Node.js 22 or newer. It includes this workspace and supports Anthropic and local Ollama. It makes no connection to an AutoGovern cloud workspace.
- Download the local companion.
- In a terminal in your download folder, run
node autogovern-studio.cjs. - Open the local address printed in the terminal.
- Add your files there, or open an encrypted Studio project you saved here.
For Ollama, install a model first, set OLLAMA_NO_CLOUD=1 for the Ollama server, and restart it with cloud features disabled. For Anthropic, enter your model ID and your key in the companion. No key is needed on this hosted page.

The readable report follows your detail level. Encrypted project backups include all sources and the last ten review snapshots. Imported model results are records supplied by the project file, not independently attested runs.

How your data and reviews work
The checklist runs entirely in your browser. The local companion sends only selected sources, model settings and review instructions to the chosen endpoint. It has no tools to browse your drive, execute model instructions or follow links in evidence.
Model findings remain suggestions. Source passages and line references are checked against the selected text; an exact match verifies the reference, not the truth of the claim. Invalid references are rejected. A review with no findings is not a safety or compliance certification.
Save projects as encrypted files using a passphrase of at least 12 characters. AutoGovern cannot recover your passphrase. The filename is not encrypted. Markdown exports are readable and contain the information visible at your selected depth.
Source deletion removes it from your current evidence list. Existing review snapshots still retain their original sources in encrypted backups. Close the page without saving to discard the in-memory project; manage downloaded copies using your own file tools.
